It’s come to my attention, and I’m sorry to say the TSA’s attention as well, that the Courier duck race mascot needs a name. The Courier was notified of this glaring error last December, when our darling duck was stopped by the eagle-eyed government authorities while making a reverse migration for a personal appearance in Niwot’s world renowned Christmas parade.

After being stopped at an unidentified Florida airport, the poor little duckling was made to go through the airport’s large imaging system, which ducky thought would create Duck a l’Orange, what with Florida being a large citrus producing state.

After obtaining legal counsel, the TSA has allowed our little duck a free pass for the migration north this year. BUT, a name is needed before heading back to points south.
The winner of the contest will be announced before the Courier’s Duck Race on Sept. 8 at the 2012 Niwot Nostalgia Day and Wild West Parade, and that’s a mouthful.

As for prizes, while not officially secured, all I can say is that the winning entry will receive a prize that will leave him or her speechless, but oranges will not be involved.
