The Grand Prize winner that Ganglehoff selects will receive $500 and have his or her piece featured in promotional materials for the Niwot First Fridays Art Walk. The People’s Choice winner will receive $100 to spend in Niwot.
During the opening at the First Friday Art Walk and until the exhibition closes on May 25, residents can see the contest entries on display at osmosis, Manifest Art Gallery, Little Bird, the Hitching Post, The Eye Opener, Niwot Jewelry & Gifts, Niwot Market, Whistlestop Frozen Yogurt, wiNot Coffee and Sew Fresh Studios.
All of the participating locations will have maps and a People’s Choice Passport available. To cast a People’s Choice ballot, you must visit all of the participating locations and get your passport stamped. Once you’ve seen all the entries, you can deposit your ballot.
As an incentive for local residents to participate, everyone who submits a People’s Choice ballot will be entered into a drawing. The winner will receive an unframed signed print of the Grand Prize winning artwork.
Both the Grand Prize winner and the People’s Choice Winner will be announced at an awards ceremony at the June 1 Niwot First Fridays Art Walk. A limited number of signed prints and cards featuring the winning artwork will be available for sale.
Organizer Anne Postle said that the idea of having a show arose in a conversation about how to publicize and market the Niwot First Fridays Art Walk. Funds raised from entry fees and the sale of cards and prints of the winning piece will go towards advertising and marketing for the monthly Art Walk and next year’s show.
