Quick work by law enforcement officers helped identify a suspect in the robbery of the Niwot branch of Bank of the West at 97 2nd Avenue Thursday afternoon, Sept. 6.

Sheriff’s deputies, working with the FBI, reviewed the bank’s surveillance video and recognized the suspect as someone who had previously been incarcerated at the Boulder County Jail. Deputies at the jail were able to identify Thomas Charles Snyder II, age 45, as the suspect.  Bank employees and other Niwot merchants were also helpful in confirming that Snyder is believed to be the person depicted in the video.

The Boulder County Sheriff’s Department has obtained a warrant for Snyder’s arrest. The arrest warrant charges Snyder with one count of Aggravated Robbery, a class 3 felony, and one count of Theft, a class 4 felony.  Snyder’s bond was set at $50,000.

Although sheriff’s reports do not state how much money was taken, the arrest warrant charges indicate that the amount was between $1,000 and $20,000. Snyder remains at large and the Sheriff’s Office is requesting assistance from the public in locating him.  Anyone with information may call the Boulder County Sheriff’s Office Detective Section at (303) 441-3650, or Northern Colorado Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).  Anonymous emails may be sent to  www.nococrimestoppers.com .  Tips may be eligible for a case reward.
