Matthew Zavala, a junior
at Niwot High School, is honored to be one of the 11,500 Americans
chosen to help carry the Olympic torch. Matthew, the junior class
president, thinks his godmother may have nominated him.

Pelle Throws Badge In Ring For Sheriff
Joe Pelle (43), a Colorado
native and a one time resident
of Niwot, hopes to fill the large shoes of Sheriff George Epp. Epp
must retire next year due to term limits. Pelle was born in Burlington,
Colo. and grew up in Boulder,graduating from Fairview High School.
He has a Masters of Criminal Justice from CU and a Bachelor of Science,
Criminal Justice and Public Administration degree from Metropolitan State
College of Denver. Pelle has also studied at the Senior Management Institute
for Police in Boston.

tissue box could be magically transformed into a snowy-white mailbox, just

The application by Qwest
to expand its existing switching
building at 8296 Niwot Road by 3,500 square feet was approved by the Boulder
County Planning Commission on Jan. 16. The planning commission vote
