Young Lake Valley Resident is a Hero By Vicki Maurer
For most 11 year olds, Wed. Feb. 16 was just another day. But for Chaz Kramer of Lake Valley, it was the day he saved the life of his friend, 10 year old Brian Roach.

The two friends were riding home from soccer practice with their friend, Alec Ryan, while Alec’s mother, Pam Ryan, drove.

"He (Roach) started turning purple," said Kramer, "and I asked if he could breathe." When Roach indicated that he could not, Kramer performed the Heimlich maneuver three times on Roach, dislodging the candy and allowing Roach to breathe again.

Kramer said, "I was pretty nervous when he started choking."  According to Pam Ryan, by the time she realized that Roach was choking and she pulled the car over, Roach was breathing again.

The Left Hand Valley Courier salutes Chaz Kramer for his quick thinking in saving the life of his friend.

On March 30, 1875, the official plat of Niwot was filed with the Boulder County Clerk of the Territory of Colorado. From its humble beginning 125 years ago, Niwot grew to proportions never imagined by its founders, Porter Hinman and Ambrose Murray.

Fluid Dynamics: An Expanding Gunbarrel Business

In 1985, Kurt Plache and his son Paul operated Fluid Dynamics as a two-man shop out of a 1,500 square foot space that they shared with another business. Kurt, one of the original founders of MicroMotion, Inc., in Gunbarrel, left to form his own company featuring the Dynablend product line.
