Stephanie Gross of Niwot (center) was joined by family, friends and employees of Luschombe Engineering for the annual Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure in Denver on Oct. 3, 1999. The 5k race, which raises money for breast cancer research, had a record turnout this year, making it the second largest race in the nation.

Stephanie, who was diagnosed with breast cancer in April, reminds women to get a mammogram and do a monthly breast exam. "A self exam is the only way a lump can be found when the mammogram fails to find one. My lump was less than three inches away from my collarbone," she explained. Horizon Dairy’s Happy Cow  Brings
    Local Company To The World

    By Michelle LaBorde

Even though Horizon Organic Dairy’s operations are spread across the United States and there are new acquisitions in Great Britain and Japan, it comes as no surprise to the natural foods industry that Horizon’s corporate headquarters are in Gunbarrel/Niwot. According to Amy Barr, Horizon’s director of corporate communications and investor relations, "Boulder is the mecca of natural foods." In fact, most of the top brass at Horizon can be considered among the natural food         industry’s founding fathers.
