Harrowing Experience Has Happy Ending 


Boyd Smiley’s impromptu detour on his motorcycle over the dirt paths near 75th Street turned into a rescue operation on Sunday, July 30.  He found Katy Ibsen lying by her bike off the side of the path, bloodied from road rash and barely conscious. {Full Story...}
 


Jean Gurule Inducted Into 
U. of New Mexico Athletic Hall of Honor

Sunset Middle School teacher Jean Gurule works with gifted and talented students every day, which seems especially appropriate considering her background.  Gurule, a resident of south Longmont, will be inducted into her second hall of fame Sept. 7 when she is admitted into the University of New Mexico Athletic Hall of Honor in Albuquerque.  Gurule was one of four selected by the UNM Letterman’s Alumni Association to receive the honor.   {Full Story...}

Court Sets Park & Rec District Election 

Voters will have a chance to vote for or against the formation of the Left Hand Park and Recreation District in the Niwot area November 7.  Proponents of the district obtained an order from Boulder County District Judge Morris Sandstead on August 25 directing that an election be held on the question of whether a special district should be formed to construct outdoor recreation facilities. {Full Story...}
