The Niwot Community Association (NCA) is an all-volunteer, non-profit organization with household memberships in the general Niwot area. The NCA strives to enhance and preserve the quality of life in Niwot through activities and social events which are unique to our town. We organize the annual Niwot Clean Up Day, the 4th of July celebration in Niwot, work with various Boulder County trails and open space projects, provide road crews and maintain the street barricade equipment for all local parades, maintain the underpass mural, and support other community activities. The NCA works with the Boulder County Sheriff's Office as the community coordinator for the National Night Out event for the past three years.
We are your advocate and we interface with local government agencies to offer an opinion, and provide a forum for Niwot citizens to have an opportunity to become informed and involved in proposed changes that will affect their lives.
The NCA strives to maintain Niwot as an independent community with a unique identity by providing a communication link between the residents of the NCA Membership Area and Boulder County government regarding issues affecting our town. This will be achieved through accurate communications and representation of the interests and concerns of the community.

Niwot was named for Chief Niwot, an Arapaho leader, whose people were hunting and fishing along the Front Range when the first gold miners arrived here in 1858. Niwot is situated in the valley bounded by Left Hand Creek and Gunbarrel Hill. Te railroad tracks were laid in 1873 and Niwot was platted on both sides of the tracks in March 1875.
The Niwot Historical Society's mission is to preserve, collect, and protect the history of Niwot, the surrounding area, and Chief Niwot through the preservation of artifacts relating to their history. The Society encourages the preservation of resources through publications, programs, workshops, the Now&Then Lecture Series and related activities bringing people together who are interested in the history of the Niwot area.
Niwot Historical Society is an all-volunteer, non-profit organization qualified under Section 501(c) 3 of the Internal Revenue Code. All donations are tax deductible. Membership and volunteers are always welcome and appreciated with complete information on our website.
