    The January meeting for the Niwot Community Association (NCA) was held on Wed., Jan. 6. Some board members were absent due to colds or being on vacation, but the meeting proceeded as normal. NCA members discussed nominations for outstanding NCA volunteers, to recognize people who volunteer their time and efforts at various NCA events.     TED Talk at NHS Niwot High School is hosting a TED Talk on Thurs., Jan. 28 at 6:30 p.m. Colorado native, Teju Ravilochan has been listed as one of America’s Top 30 Entrepreneurs under 30 and has given a TED Talk before. His talk, titled “How Being Unreasonable can Change the World,” will encompass the idea of becoming an entrepreneur through social and environmental challenges.   • Boulder County to Monitor Fence at Twin Lakes

    Recent concerns about wildlife and vandalism have the Boulder County Parks and Open Space Department keeping a close eye on Twin Lakes in Gunbarrel. The suburban retention ponds were split by a fence in August of 2015 due to rules regarding dogs being on leashes. On the east side, dogs must be on a leash, but on the west side, it is not required, and dogs can run free.
