    In order to keep their playoff hopes alive, the Niwot High School girls basketball team needed to go undefeated in their final four games of the season. They are well on their way to accomplishing that goal after two big wins this past week. The Cougars won their final home game of the season against Thompson Valley, 54-44 last Tuesday, Feb. 9, then handled Mountain View on Thursday, Feb. 11, winning 47-34.     All of the work, all of the effort, every dual, every tournament, every practice, all led to this moment for the Niwot High School wrestling team - the opportunity to show out in the regional tournament and make the state championship. The Cougars brought eight athletes to compete in the regionals, and six of the eight made it at least to the quarterfinals of the consolation round with a chance to continue their season at the Pepsi Center.     Although the Niwot High School girls swimming and diving team did not place highly at state, the girls had a great finish to their season at the state championships, on Friday, Feb. 12 and Saturday, Feb. 13, according to Coach Sarah Stamp. With 10 girls making it to the championship meet, the Cougars were prepared to swim their best times possible.     Recent construction projects seem to have no end in sight, which is why many people are wary when they hear of a future construction project in their neighborhood. That’s why Boulder County Transportation (BCT) held an open house meeting at the Left Hand Grange on Wednesday, Feb. 10, to discuss two upcoming projects with the Niwot community. Over 20 people filtered into the Grange to hear about two projects—one a culvert replacement at North 83rd Street and Dry Creek Road, and the other, reconstruction of both 83rd Street and Neva Road.     Once kids reach high school, it’s usually time for them to get their first summer job, which has become increasingly harder to find. The Boulder County Summer Youth Corps program offers jobs to students ages 14-17 who are looking for a different and unique summer job. Beginning in 1996, the Youth Corps was created to address the problem of very few jobs for students. It focuses on hiring first-time workers, many just 14 and 15 years-old.
