Former Heatherwood resident Katy Blakemore finished fifth in the women’s pro competition at the Boulder Ironman 70.3 June 11. Blakemore, a teacher in Denver, got out to a strong start in the swimming leg of the triathlon, with the third-best time. The bike portion of the race was not quite as strong as she was seventh among pro women, but her run time was fifth among all women, helping her to a strong finish.
