  • Mistakes bury Cougars in loss to Fort Morgan

    Jocelyn Rowley, [email protected]|Nov 2, 2018

There wasn’t much to celebrate after Niwot’s 42-0 home loss to Fort Morgan on Oct. 25, but head coach Jeremy Lanter doesn’t think there’s reason to despair, either. “We had the worst second quarter we’ve had in football,” Lanter said after the squad gave up three touchdowns to the fourth-ranked Mustangs. “But the kids came out in the third quarter and they didn’t give up, and they kept working, and they started playing for each other, and that certainly makes the old guy proud.” The Cougars moun...

  • Niwot heads into the postseason with momentum

If Niwot head coach Daisha Agho had many serious concerns about her squad heading into the postseason, then their play down the stretch against the top teams in Class 4A and 5A went a long way to quell them. Led by the senior trio of Emma Falk, Zoe Gonzales and Audrey Richard, the Cougars posted rousing victories against Longmont and Holy Family, then closed out the regular season by taking three out of four matches in the two-day Ponderosa Tournament, held Oct. 26-27. For Agho, the team’s f...

  • Niwot High presents Cinderella

    Vicky Dorvee, [email protected]|Nov 2, 2018

This is a “Big Year” for Niwot High School’s fall theater production. Only once every few years does an NHS production have a live student orchestra accompanying a big name musical. Rodgers and Hammerstein’s “Cinderella” will take to the stage Nov. 8 through 11 starring a cast of nearly 50 actors. NHS drama teacher and show director Erin Anderson described the production as elaborate and glitzy. The Broadway version, updated in 2013, has songs that will be completely familiar, but the charact... Full story

  • Niwot LID holds annual meeting with county commissioners

    Jocelyn Rowley, [email protected]|Nov 2, 2018

On Tuesday, Oct. 23, the Niwot LID Advisory Committee welcomed county commissioners Cindy Domenico, Deb Gardner, and Elise Jones to the Left Hand Grange for a “very timely” discussion of the state of local affairs during the past 12 (or so) months. Ordinarily used as an opportunity to showcase the town’s recent successes, this year’s presentation to the commissioners was fraught with anxiety about the county’s development moratorium, which was scheduled for a public hearing on Oct. 30. Ackno...
