One of the highlights for the Nov. 7 election included Question 1B, increasing the limit for Boulder County Sheriff to five four-year terms. The measure passed by around 10,000 votes, 55.16 to 44.84 percent. Total ballots counted for the county were unofficially 92,811, out of the 237,561 registered voters, representing roughly 39 percent of those eligible to vote. To The Editor: I am opposed to the parking lot, which will be located along Murray Street, on the strip of land currently owned by BNSF railroad. Reasons for my opposition: The parking lot will change Murray Street from a rural setting to a city setting. Traffic will increase in the neighborhood. According to the Sept. 2016 traffic study done in Niwot (Fox, Tuttle and Hernandez), ten spaces were removed from downtown parking for striped parking spaces and bumper blocks between 2014 and 2016. Niwot High School will soon have a new roof, but not the kind made of shingles. Thanks to a power purchase agreement, the St. Vrain Valley School District will be installing solar panels at NHS, Erie Middle School and Red Hawk Elementary over the winter.
