  • Letter to the Editor

    Aug 25, 2016

There’s been a lot of exposure in the local press for the voices opposed to the marijuana dispensary, which was approved in June by county commissioners for the Niwot location on 79th Street in Cottonwood Square. Before the Niwot Business Association meeting in March of 2015, when building owner Ernie Craumer first addressed the community about his plans, I was shocked and disappointed to see a picket line, with children and their enraged parents brandishing “No Pot in Niwot” signs. It was the first time I didn’t feel proud of my communi...

When the concert by area favorite Chris Daniels and the Kings ended July 28, people leaving noticed two Boulder County Sheriff’s deputies in front of the Niwot post office talking to two distraught women. The women told the officers, who provide security for the concerts, that the driver had locked her purse in her car, and placed the keys on top of a tire so she wouldn’t have to carry them into the concert. When the women walked out of the concert, they discovered the car was gone. Deputy Bil...

    Aurelia Pollard, Editorial@lhvc.com|Jul 1, 2016

The Fourth of July is a special time in Niwot because it not only celebrates America’s freedom, but does so with the only parade in Boulder County for the holiday. Julie Breyer, third-grade teacher at Niwot Elementary School, is part of the Niwot Community Association (NCA) and has been the chair of the parade for the past three years. This will be the NCA’s fourth year orchestrating the parade (that will take place on Monday, July 4), although the parade has been around for many years. Bre...

Despite juggling the busy schedule that comes along with being a mother of three, Frea still manages to donate much of her time to the community.
