Milestone Medical Continues To Provide Care

Milestone Medical, a division of Longmont United Hospital with offices at 6800 N. 79th Street in Cottonwood Square in Niwot, is continuing services for patients although Dr. Eric Hernandez and Dr. Jennifer Johnson are no longer with Longmont United Hospital.

Though there is no family practitioner in place at this time, Longmont United Vice President of Operations Peter Powers said that people can still get most of the same services at the Niwot location.

“Currently we have a nurse practitioner there that still sees patients as normal,” Powers said. “But we expect we will have at least one or two new doctors in there in the next three to six months.”

Powers said that physicians in Longmont, Lyons and Berthoud are available for anyone needing care beyond what can currently be done in Niwot.

“We’ve only offered family practice in Niwot historically,” Powers said. “Some of the doctors are happy to see kids or older adults, but technically those are family practice providers.

“If people want to see specific doctors for internal medicine, then they can visit our physicians in Longmont or other locations for now.”

Powers said that a rough estimate to have a new physician or two in Niwot is this summer, and the replacement process has already begun.

“We are actively recruiting and interviewing physicians for that location,” Powers said. “We have some promising applicants. Their training and where they attended school is obviously important. Someone who wants to work in a smaller community setting, someone who has great personal skills and patient care skills is also important.”

Powers said that anyone with medical concerns should continue to go to the Niwot location as usual, and if they need to be referred elsewhere for care, the group can help facilitate those needs.

“For any medical-related questions, continue to refer to the nurse practitioner that’s located in Niwot,” Powers said. “We’re pleased to continue serving the community. We look forward to introducing some new physicians in Niwot.”
