Man suspected of Niwot robbery arrested by Longmont and Firestone police

On Tuesday, March 22, Longmont and Firestone police arrested a man who they believe is responsible for eight different robberies of gas stations and liquor stories around Boulder County since January, including the Conoco station in Cottonwood Square.

Police arrested 30-year-old Jesus Theodore Lopez at an AutoZone in Firestone last Tuesday afternoon. According to a news report, Lopez was arrested on suspicion of eight counts of aggravated robbery and one count of theft between $2,000 and $5,000.

Officers also served a search warrant to search Lopez’s home in Longmont, at 1903 Mount Sneffels, and his 2005 Buick.

Lopez is suspected of robbing Centennial Liquors on Jan. 24, Brandin’ Iron Liquors on Feb. 6 and Feb. 16, and Sunrise Gas Station on Feb. 24. He is also suspected of robbing Francis Street Liquors on Feb. 28, Conoco Gas Station in Niwot on Feb 28, and 9th Avenue Liquors on March 3.

Most recently, Lopez is suspected of robbing Gasamat/Smoker Friendly on Monday night, March 21.

The suspected robber covered his face during all the robberies and would often show clerks a gun that was tucked into his pants. He left the gas stations and liquor stores with money in his hands.

Luckily, no one was injured during any of the robberies.
