After coming off a big three-game winning streak, the Niwot High School softball team team continued with another victory against Centaurus but suffered a loss against Mountain View.
On Tuesday, Sept. 20 the Cougars faced off with the Centaurus Warriors and scored another huge win, with a final score of 22-1. The first inning ended in nine runs for Niwot and one for Centaurus.
Niwot scored another 12 runs in the second inning and another one in the third inning, with Centaurus still only having one run. The game was stopped after the third inning due to Niwot’s high score.
Multiple players scored three runs for Niwot including freshman Nikki Sims, senior Grace Ladd and senior Madison Kunkel. Ladd pitched the full three innings for the Cougars, allowing only one run, and also drove in six runs at the plate.

Niwot’s second game of the week didn’t end as the team as hoped, as they faced Mountain View on Thursday, Sept. 22.
The game was scoreless after the first inning, and that’s how it remained with the Cougars, while the Mountain Lions scored 10 runs. Ladd pitched the entireseven innings, allowing 10 runs, but only five were earned.
The Cougars face off next against Silver Creek again on Tuesday, Sept. 27 at 4 p.m. at Silver Creek. Niwot plays Longmont on Thursday, Sept. 27 at home at 4 p.m.
