All Local, All The Time

A forklift might be necessary

After spying the excellent work being done by Elaine Fein on the Left Hand chair situated in front of KL Realty, I’ve learned that Anne Postle and Michelle Henzel of Osmosis Gallery and Architecture have ordered 11 more concrete chairs – eight are adult-size and three are the smaller kids’ chairs.

Postle said that the southpaw chairs are available for purchase at the cost of $250 for an adult chair and $175 for a child’s. Buyers need to secure their own artist to decorate the chairs. The Niwot Cultural Arts Association sponsors a chair-painting contest from time to time as new Left Hand chairs appear.

Then, there is the task of moving them. Since each adult chair weighs 500 pounds, a forklift and a heavy duty truck are needed. While Postle can provide a forklift for delivery downtown, individuals outside of downtown Niwot who wish to buy a chair must provide their own forklift. The smaller chairs can easily be moved by a strong adult or two.

Postle wanted to make it known that there seems to be a shortage of artists to paint the chairs. Anyone interested in painting a chair should contact Michelle Henzel at 303-652-2668.

Osmosis Art and Architecture is located at 290 Second Ave, Niwot CO 80544.
