All Local, All The Time
Boulder County Transportation will begin a culvert replacement and roadway resurfacing project on North 83rd Street in Niwot starting at 8 a.m. on Wednesday, June 21. The project boundaries are from Niwot Road on the southern end to the Diagonal Highway/CO 119 on the northern end.
In order to safely accommodate the project, the road will either be reduced to a single lane in locations or completely closed. Work will take place between 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. Saturday work may be allowed, but only if absolutely necessary to meet the project schedule. The project is expected to last through October 2017.
A portion of the Longmont-to-Boulder Trail and Niwot Loop Trail will be rerouted during construction. Detour signage will be put in place. Access to the Left Hand Valley Grange Park and baseball diamond will be maintained via Niwot Road.
The project includes:
A new reinforced, open-bottom, concrete box culvert at Dry Creek #2 that will accommodate higher creek flows
Resurfacing of one-mile of North 83rd Street
The road will be widened between Niwot and Neva roads to accommodate a new shoulder
New at-grade crossings for the Niwot Loop trail north of Niwot Road and the Longmont-to-Boulder Trail south of CO 119
New sanitary sewer main for Niwot Sanitation District
Reconstruction of the parking lot at Left Hand Valley Grange Park.
