All Local, All The Time
Boulder County is now accepting applications for open positions on the Niwot Local Improvement District (LID) Advisory Committee.
The nine-member LID Advisory Committee “is an independent board that provides the Boulder County Commissioners with recommendations for improvements to the LID,” according to Boulder County.
The committee is primarily responsible for overseeing expenditures of the town’s sales tax revenue, which is generated by business retail sales within Niwot’s business district, including Old Town and Cottonwood Square. In the past 12 months, the LID Advisory Committee has approved funding for community events such as Rock N Rails, Jazz on 2nd Ave, and Enchanted Evening, as well as the purchase of land for a potential public parking lot. Past projects funded include the mural on the Excel Electric building, the Niwot sign along the Diagonal Highway, holiday lighting, street lights, street paving and the downtown drainage system.
The panel also is responsible for updates and revisions to the Niwot Strategic Plan, which serves as a roadmap for future planning and development in the community. The plan was first adopted in 2011 and revised in 2016.
The LID Advisory Committee holds meetings on the first Tuesday of each month at the Mountain View Fire Station on Niwot Road at 7 p.m.
The application period is open now through Jan. 19, 2018. New five-year terms for a Niwot Business Association (NBA) representative, a Niwot Community Association (NCA) representative, a residential representative and a business community representative begin on March 1, 2018. Members are limited to two consecutive 5-year terms. Current members whose terms are expiring are NBA representative Tony Santelli, who is term-limited, Howard Treppeda, business representative, Satir DeMarco, residential representative and Laura Skaggs, NCA representative.
Other current members are Jay Champion, Jim Eastman, Harris Faberman, Biff Warren and Carrie Wise.
