The official declares sophomore Matt Bitterman (126) the match winner over Alexander Stacy of Glenwood Springs at the Soeby Spartan Classic at Berthoud HS. Bitterman pinned Stacy at 1:50.
Led by first-year wrestlers Julian Molina and Matt Bitterman, the Niwot Cougars outlasted cross-town rival Silver Creek Thursday night Jan. 18, picking up their second Northern League victory of the year.
“I am very proud of the two of them,” Matthews said following the win. “To come out for wrestling as sophomores for the first time is tough and they have embraced the grind.”
