All Local, All The Time
William Sykes Yoh, age 100, joined his beloved Becky in heaven on Friday, May 11, 2018.
He, and his twin brother Bob, were born in Eureka, Pennsylvania on Dec. 19, 1917 to Reverend Paul and Helen (Sykes) Yoh.
He attended Ursinus College, his father’s alma mater, and during World War II, he served stateside in the US Army Air Corp.
Bill married Rebecca Yard on May 8, 1944, in Milton, Pennsylvania, and resided in the Philadelphia area until 1983 when he and Becky made the old school house in Niwot, Colorado their home.
He worked as a paymaster with C&D Batteries for 30 years, and was a devoted football fan of the Eagles, Penn State, and of course Ursinus College.
Ever so cognitively rich, Bill was an avid stamp collector, enjoying his monthly meetings with the Boulder Stamp Club. He was also a paleontology and arrowhead buff.
He enjoyed his scrapple and his daughter’s homemade shoo-fly pie, and the deep love of his family and friends.
He was a cherished Dad to Rachel and Paul; Grandpa to Mark (Christy), Jesse (Alecia), Hannah, Jamie, and Michael (Sadie); Great-Grandpa to Myla, Abbey, and Austyn; and Uncle Bill to Pam and the multitude of individuals he touched far and wide.
He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, brother, and infant daughter, Christine.
A celebration of Bill’s life will be held on Saturday, June 23, at 1:00 pm, at the Niwot United Methodist Church, 7405 Lookout Road, Longmont, CO 80503. Visit www.ahlbergfuneralchapel.com to share condolences.
