All Local, All The Time
Niwot Elementary School (NES) starts this school year with Kylea Winka as the newly appointed dean of students and Avery Bounds as the new digital media technician.
Kylea Winka has worked at NES since 2012 as a special education facilitator. She holds a master’s degree in special education and an interdisciplinary education specialist degree in educational administration and special education administration. She has worked in special education for 17 years. Winka’s new responsibilities as dean of students will revolve around student discipline, 504 Plans which support students with disabilities, meeting with parents, as well as evaluating and coaching staff. She’s been a resident of Longmont for the past 10 years.
Avery Bounds moved to Colorado two years ago from Cleveland, OH. Bounds will be responsible for all of the duties within the library along with teaching students research and library skills. She also will be working with NES’s Discovery Lab focusing on hands-on STEM projects. Bounds earned her master’s degree in school libraries from CU Denver in May. Her previous job was as a library assistant at Pinnacle Charter School in Denver. Bounds recently relocated to Gunbarrel to be closer to NES.
