All Local, All The Time
The family-owned Bank of Estes Park first opened its doors in the friendly mountain town in 1965. It remained a one-branch bank until 1994 when the family opened a satellite bank here in Niwot. Now, that branch is turning the big 2-5 and big changes are afoot, according to Vice President/Branch Manager Wanda Fisher.
Most noticeable are the physical changes. In fact, the entire bank got a total overhaul, completely changing the interior and practically doubling its size. The bank took over part of the Niwot Market’s space, in the former meat department area. They added two additional offices making their one-on-one banking more private. But don’t worry, the changes are visible on the outside, but the old-fashioned relationship-based way of taking care of their clients’ needs remains, Fisher explained.
“We strive to serve the community and our plan is to grow and to serve our community better,” she said. “It’s more of a customer friendly atmosphere we have always had, but now it’s an even more intimate space. People bank with us because of the close relationships we have with our customers. Those who bank here never want to leave us. Most people don’t know but we have customers as far as Walden, Loveland, Broomfield and as far west as Arvada. One lady lives in Elizabeth, but could not find the personal services that she was looking for, so she was here in Niwot and continues to do her banking with us.”
Fisher also outlined a number of changes that won’t be visible on the outside.
“We are thrilled to welcome Terry Gushiken who is joining our team as the new loan officer.” Fisher said. “Terry comes from the front range area and has been in the banking industry for 26 years. We are very fortunate to have him.”
Other staff members include Tracy Thorn, Vice President/IT Officer, as well as Heather Baldwin and Andon Canfield who are in charge of customer services and new accounts.
On Wednesday June 19th, the Bank of Estes Park is hosting a 25th Anniversary Celebration. Community members are invited to see the new space, take a tour, and introduce themselves. Free cookies and coffee will be available all day, with appetizers, beer, wine, sodas and a free gift available between 4:00pm-6:30pm.
