All Local, All The Time
Local Gunbarrel brewery, Finkel & Garf, is a beloved staple in the community. Sunday afternoons can be whiled away on the patio with a delicious, uncomplicated beer in hand. The father-son team that set out to create a community gathering space did so with a few things in mind. They wanted their establishment to be no-frills where beer was more of a facilitator for fantastic memories, instead of the main event. The logo features toys, because the dynamic duo behind each brew believes that we are all still kids at heart.
While Finkel & Garf is based around this light-hearted mentality, it still takes plenty of things seriously - like community engagement and charity work. Each week, the local watering hole hosts a non-profit organization at its event aptly titled Pints With a Purpose. On Tuesdays, an area organization is invited to hang out at the brewery from 3 to 9 p.m. to spread the word about the unique work they do. This event is a great way to learn more about the good work being done in our neighborhood and beyond. It also offers the chance to meet others focused on giving back.
This week’s event featured Community Food Share, a non-profit that seeks to end hunger throughout Boulder and Broomfield counties. Next week will feature Cultivate, a non-profit that focuses on helping senior citizens thrive as they age. Cultivate highlights the importance of community engagement and quality time with loved ones.
No two Pints With a Purpose look alike, but each are equally as beneficial for the organization and for our community. Finkel & Garf gives one dollar from every pint purchased to the organization and, the warm, welcoming atmosphere allows interested parties to learn more about the group and cause in a low-pressure situation.
