All Local, All The Time

Niwot is going to the birds – literally

A walk around Niwot usually reveals a few interesting sights. Maybe it's the coming of fall, but the bird watching has been extremely good lately.

A stroll in the park found some free range, semi-rural clucking chickens. The chickens seemed unconcerned about a crazed photographer and were very focused on the abundant bugs that were hiding the grass.

It is, however, the turkeys that stole the show.

According to the turkeys' mom Amy Vinson, "We've had them since March, and they were raised inside for two months, and so they imprinted on us. They just love being around people. If they are bored, they will go down from our property to The Children's Park and they will find people to show off to."

It turns out that these fowl also love music. While they are not critics in the usual sense, they make their opinions known, especially when the Niwot Community Semi-Marching Free Grange Band is practicing in Whistle Stop Park or performing in Niwot.

They just gobble up the music.
