Blessings Day Spa opens in Cottonwood Square

This past month, the Niwot business community grew larger with the opening of Blessings Day Spa in Cottonwood Square. With owner and aesthetician Julie Stenz at the helm, the business operates with a philosophy of care and support, offering customers the opportunity to renew, rejuvenate and relax.

"Our service is all about the person as they enter our spa," Stenz said. "We really want to take care of them, whatever their needs are. In that sense, our name implies to us that there's kindness here."

Stenz is passionate about her work and about helping people. That's partly because, earlier in her life, she had a traumatic car accident that affected her appearance. She said, "The kindness and the care and the result of those treatments that I got from that aesthetician changed my life in many ways."

Once her daughter left for college, Stenz entered aesthetician school and then opened her business. Now she is excited to help others in turn, and to be part of the Niwot community.

"A lot of people come in as they're transitioning from one phase of life to another," she said. "They may wake up and feel that they don't look like themselves anymore. To me, it's not about helping a 50 or 60-year-old look 25. It's about helping people feel more beautiful in their skin. I always say it's about the skin and not about the skin."

That philosophy is apparent as you enter the spa. The space is peaceful, relaxing, and orderly in a way that shows how science and nature each have a role in helping clients feel beautiful. To this end, Stenz shared that while aestheticians have always been known for strict infection controls, pandemic-related concerns have increased this emphasis.

What's most notable is the caring, gentle and trustworthy presence of Stenz. She greets you warmly, connecting with clients in a way that feels like a caring friend who wants you to leave feeling confident.

Until COVID-19 precautions are more relaxed, spa hours are by appointment only. Ultimately Stenz aims to practice from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on weekdays and noon to 6 p.m. on weekends. Customers can choose from a full selection of treatments including an organic facial, all-natural body sculpting treatments, body scrubs, waxing services, eyelash and eyebrow services.

Stenz is also a certified acne specialist. "The condition is really hard for people," she said. "When they're able to come in here and we're able to help them with that and we can show them the beauty of their skin, that's what we're here for."

As a final component of service, the spa will be holding Tai Chi classes, mindfulness classes, and body movement classes. These complement her other offerings, providing a full range of services to enhance client wellness.

Stenz is looking forward to building her business and currently is offering discounts on services. New customers can receive $20 off services worth $100 or more. For information, visit the spa's website at niwotblessings.com.

Editor's Note: An earlier version of the story mistakenly referred to Julie Stenz's daughter Adrienne as her son.
