All Local, All The Time
When it's time to purchase holiday gifts this year, you can always pull out your keyboard and order gifts from Amazon or purchase something from a chain retailer at the mall. But local stores here have a lot to offer. When you buy from area retailers you'll find gifts you can't get anywhere else in the world, and the money you spend stays in the community, something that's needed by many as they recover from the lingering impacts of the pandemic.
Local food restaurants and purveyors
Niwot and Gunbarrel have plenty of great restaurants ranging from fine dining to pizza, homestyle food, savory pies, coffee and pastries, brunch, small plates and more. A gift certificate from any of them would be a welcomed treat, perfect for hostess gifts, teacher gifts, or stocking stuffers.
In addition, local food purveyors can provide tasty gifts for recipients to enjoy at home. Meadow Lake Honey still has inventory for smaller hostess gifts, teacher gifts, or stocking stuffers. Multiple craft beverage producers can provide libations to bring to a holiday party, or merchandise that someone would love to find under their tree. Friends or family might like to receive a gift of tea at the Niwot Inn and Spa or a confection from Joan's Petite Sweets at Niwot Market.
Health and wellness
There are multiple Niwot-centered options available if you want to help your friend or family member prepare for a fresh start on their fitness or wellness journey in 2022. RAKD fitness helps people customize their fitness routine and provides the support to keep them on track. Nourish and Company is another great local choice that also includes health coaching and other offerings to support clients.
Relaxation and self care can be part of a health and fitness effort for next year as well. Blessings Day Spa treats the entire person, helping them to look and feel their best. Niwot Inn and Spa also provides spa offerings, along with overnight accommodations for out of town guests who would appreciate accommodations along with pampering.
Unique clothing, art and home decorating items
If you know someone who needs an interesting teacher gift, or wants to see beautiful clothes or home decorating items under the tree, Niwot's business districts have plenty of options. Little Shops of Niwot offers carefully created clothing and other items from a range of local vendors all in a single place. Across the parking lot in Cottonwood Square, Fly Away Home Decor includes creative, often whimsical treasures from vases and planters to furniture. Around the corner is Belle Terre, whose owner Sarah Cioni has obtained many unique Niwot-branded items that make great gifts. And inside Niwot Market, Juniper and Twine offers gifts as well as flowers, while Pebble Art offers handmade jewelry by local artists. If you are looking for something completely different, stop into Fan's 66 gas station and convenience store. You are guaranteed to find interesting, inexpensive items you won't find unless you travel to China.
2nd Avenue offers more options including Little Bird, which is as much of a gallery as it is a store. You'll find an array of handmade jewelry and art of all kinds there, next to one-of-a-kind clothing and boutique, craft-made body care products. If you still haven't found the unique gift you seek, head next door to Few of a Kind Vintage + Mercantile, or go further down the street to Wise Buys Antiques. Items from both of these locations are full of nostalgia and won't be available anywhere else. Just a half block further down 2nd Avenue is Osmosis Art and Architecture, where you can find fine art by area artists as well as jewelry and smaller items suitable for economical gift giving. A few doors down is Niwot Jewelry & Gifts, where you might find that special gift for someone special.
Reading and Art
Art and culture can have its place during the holidays. Some families are starting their own version of the Icelandic Christmas Eve tradition, Jolabokaflod (Christmas Book Flood), by giving and reading books. These families can find something memorable at either of Niwot's two bookstores, Inkberry Books in Cottonwood Square or The Wandering Jellyfish on 2nd Avenue.
Non-literary artistic gifts are available throughout the town, including photography and painting shown at each of the town's two coffee shops Winot Coffee and The Old Oak. Mark Rossier Pottery offers another option for friends and family that appreciate art, and something from there could make an ideal hostess or teacher gift.
