All Local, All The Time
On Dec. 17, the Niwot Rotary Club celebrated 13 years of service, both in the local community and across international borders. As part of the Rotary tradition, a new president's name is added to their podium and all past presidents reunite in celebration. Sadly, the founding president, Eli Buzas, passed away from COVID-19 in January 2021. Current president Karrin Reichen said Buzas was a wonderful friend who inspired her to join the Rotary Club.
Reichen is proud to be leading her club since her inauguration on July 1, 2021. Her favorite service projects, that she has participated in and/or previous members have, include serving meals at the OUR Center and Colorado Friendship in Longmont, raising $6,400 to serve weekend meals for students at St. Vrain Valley School District, providing college scholarships at Niwot High School, selling Palisades Peaches for fundraising events, providing clothes and toiletries for the homeless, building and maintaining the Little Free Libraries in Niwot, donating $36,500 to build water filter systems for two schools in rural China, and cleaning up the hiking/biking trails in Niwot.
If you are interested in donating and/or volunteering at the Rotary Club, you can find them on their website, https://niwotrotary.org, or call (303) 351-7004. The club meets on Thursday mornings at the Left Hand Grange in downtown Niwot from 7:15 to 8:30 a.m.
