All Local, All The Time
Sarah Campbell has always had a passion for fashion and community. Over the years, she has tried on a variety of career hats. Locally, she participated in the Little Holiday Shops and even a previous iteration of The Little Shop. As of Jan. 1, 2022, she became The Little Shop's official owner and is thrilled about the reopening.
"It's wonderful, and we just reopened two weeks ago," she said smiling. "We completely redid the flooring, [there's] a new coat of paint, new furniture [and] we've had at least four new people join us."
The Little Shop is a collaborative effort where more than 15 local businesses, artists and others are able to showcase and sell their work.
Some of the vendors featured include:
"It came out of COVID where a lot of events were being canceled for vendors," Campbell said. "It started as a pop up and it did so well that my partner and I wanted to do it permanently."
On Saturday, Feb. 5, after officially being open for two weeks, The Little Shop celebrated its grand reopening with the community. The event included a ribbon-cutting ceremony in the morning and anyone who shopped was able to enter a raffle for a gift basket featuring items from each of the vendors.
Catherine McHale, Economic Development of the Niwot Business Association, spoke at the event, saying, "This is a wonderful turnout and a wonderful space...Now she's [Campbell's] taking it over, making it her own and we are just delighted."
Visitors to the shop certainly seemed delighted as well. Individuals and families packed the corner space in Cottonwood Square, snacking on hors d'oeuvres and chatting with both vendors and other customers.
One vendor, Amanda Corrion of Stella Violet, said, "It's really heartwarming to have that community support, and as more people know about us, we're getting busier and busier and we really love it. We're just happy to be here."
Stella Violet is a clothing line that largely focuses on women's and children's wear that's "soft, comfy, cozy." As a single mother and entrepreneur, Corrion focuses on quality and was eager to work with Campbell after having met her at a pop-up event a few years ago. When Campbell was networking to find vendors for The Little Shop, Corrion jumped at the chance to take part and have a physical presence in the community.
Jee, Campbell's partner, said, "This part of town is great and I'm looking forward to people enjoying it as life gets back to normal." He helped Campbell in the reopening and was involved in some of the remodeling efforts.
"We're just really lucky to have gotten such a beautiful space," said Campbell. "Niwot has a really good local following."
