New meditation center coming to Niwot

Kristian Dura is the future owner of a meditation/community center in Cottonwood Square. The name of her business is Una Vida, which translates to “one life” in Spanish. Dura came up with the name when she was working at a retreat center in Argentina. While she was living there, her coworkers would repeat their mantra: “your life, my life, one life.” Meaning, we all share the same human spirit no matter who we are or what background we come from. And so, Dura wanted to create a center (similar to the one in Argentina) where Front Range natives will reconnect with their community.

Una Vida will be providing a wide range of self-care services: meditation, massages, Qigong classes (a Chinese movement meditation), Spanish speaking classes (divided into two categories: the first, to create a safe space for people whose first language is Spanish and the second, for people interested in learning the language), and programs for people of all ages.

There also will be an infrared sauna at the center. "Traditional saunas have a more intense heat, where the infrared sauna is gentle.” Dura said. “Sitting in one is a lot like sitting in the sun on a warm day, feeling the heat radiate to the core of your body. In this gentle but deep warmth, the function of the immune system strengthens, tight or sore muscles relax, circulation improves, even our mood and outlook on life can improve, and as we know, the more deeply we relax the more deeply our natural well-being returns to our bodies and our lives.”

Una Vida is meant to serve the community, and allows people to make reservations and host their own workshops. A dementia support group has already contacted Dura to rent a space at the center. Dura is hoping that the center will be used for social groups as well, especially since the pandemic disrupted our personal lives.
