Lobo Trail Damage

Two large areas along the LoBo Trail between Niwot Road and 79th Street have been scraped in preparation for a trail improvement project. Andy Tyler of Boulder County Parks & Open Space, said, "These areas were scraped for material deliveries as we will be resurfacing about two miles of the LoBo Trail this summer." Straw wattles have been delivered to the construction site to be placed around the stockpiles of trail material as erosion control. "Over the past several years we have had requests for adding material to sections of trail as there was ponding in low spots after rain storms and when snow melts during the winter months," Tyler said in an email."These ponding areas freeze overnight creating small 'ice rinks' along the trail. We will be adding about 3-4 inches of new trail material this summer."
