Rotary Club of Niwot gives check to NCAA Ukraine Sculpture campaign

The Rotary Club of Niwot, through its grant program, was able to make a generous donation of $2,000 to the Niwot Cultural Arts Association to assist in the purchase of the "Kore That Awakening" sculpture in Niwot Sculpture Park. The donation will ultimately be money sent directly to the sculptor Egor Zigora, who along with his family and studio, fled Ukraine at the beginning of the attack by Russia.

The sculpture park is located at the Community Corner of Niwot, on the southwest corner of Niwot Road and 79th Street. Sculptures are selected for display by the sculpture committee, which consists of local residents Anne Postle, Lisa Rivard and Jill Whitener. They are spearheading the fundraising efforts to raise a total of $25,000 and the addition of the check from the Rotary club of Niwot brings the total to $ 22,024.60.

Lisa Rivard was presented the check by club President Kerrin Reichen at their weekly meeting at the Left Hand Grange on Thursday mornings.

The Rotary Club of Niwot was one of the first donors to give when the sculpture park first opened in November 2018. Ongoing funds are needed to maintain the beauty and interest in the park. The plan for Kore That Awakening is to have blue and yellow flowers planted around it. Rivard explained that sculptor Egor Zigora has applied for a visitor's visa to enable him to come to Niwot and see his work of art in the sculpture park.

The Rotary Club will also be celebrating next week as they will thank President Reichin for her year of Presidency service and welcome incoming President Mary Colwell at a Garden Party at one of the members homes.
