All Local, All The Time

Good Music Medicine opened Aug. 4 Rock & Rails

The opener at Rock & Rails Thursday night Aug. 4 was the band "Good Music Medicine," featuring Niwot resident Joe Pacheco, and Thomas Dow. The duo played a great mix of folk and blues music. Pacheco, who plays with a number of bands in the area, plays amazing bass while mixing in the vocals, with Dow playing the guitar and singing.

Other members of the Boulder-based band include Scott Wright on percussion and vocals, and Kit Sawyer on guitar and vocals, but Pacheco and Dow were the only ones performing in Niwot. The combination was certainly good medicine for the audience.

"Good Music Medicine" plays all over our local music circuit with two or three performances every week. On their web site they also offer guitar lessons. Check them out at http://www.goodmusicmedicine.com.

This week's opener, Thursday, Aug. 11, is the band "All About The Brass," featuring three horns as well as guitar, bass, drums and vocalist. Mike Pierce of southwest Longmont on trumpet and Katie Warren of Gunbarrel on baritone are also members of the Niwot Community Semi-Marching Free Grange Band, which opens a week later. Come out and join the fun at 5 pm Thursdays in Whistle Stop Park.
