All Local, All The Time

New Conoco gas station owner

The Conoco gas station in Cottonwood Square was recently purchased by Rajbir Dhillon from long-time owners Bo Fan and her husband, Victor Tseng.

Dhillon got into the gas station business starting in 2004. "I was in New York and had sold my small business there," he said. "New York was a fun town but a super busy place. My wife and I didn't want to raise a family there. I had several friends in Denver and decided to look for businesses in the city, and I decided to buy my first gas station in Northglenn, Colorado, USA Food & Gas, which I still currently own to this day."

He became interested in acquiring the Niwot gas station after a friend told him it was for sale. "I went and saw the station in March and fell in love with the location and the city of Niwot," Dhillon said. "The folks in town are all very nice and have a real desire to support small businesses. The prior owner did a decent job and seemed to be well loved in the city. Alternately, I felt that I could bring meaningful change to the store and really improve the operation."

Under Fan's ownership, the gas station and convenience store offered an eclectic mix of items, many from Taiwan, where Fan and Tseng are from. Since the change in ownership, most of those items have been removed from the inventory.

The Conoco gas station is now run by Dhillon's brother and nephew. "I love the customer mix that we see and the support that they have and continue to give us day in and day out," Dhillon said. "It inspires us to want to continue to improve the business and give them a great experience. We are currently in process with different projects to improve the store... I really look forward to working and growing with the community."
