All Local, All The Time
The Garden Gate Cafe's dining room was packed Friday, Aug. 14 for Brisket & Bingo, a fundraising event hosted by The Garden Gate Cafe, A Few of a Kind Vintage + Mercantile and Deborah Fowler - DRF Real Estate to benefit Niwot's Marshall Fire Fund.
"It was fun, the numbers were good, people seemed to enjoy themselves and the food," said Steve Gaibler, owner of the Garden Gate. "I think it's really important to give back to the community."
The event consisted of six bingo games and a silent auction. Angie Milterson of A Few of a Kind Vintage +Mercantile explained that she had reached out to a number of local businesses and farms, all of which donated items and put together packages for the silent auction. Her business, meanwhile, donated prizes for bingo winners which included boil-in-the bag peanuts, gourmet popcorn and more.
Fowler called the evening "perfect," saying, "[It was] real old fashioned fun."
Approximately 40 people showed up for the event and $4,065 was raised for the Niwot Marshall Fire Fund. The fund total is now at $82,436.65, but with Lobsterfest this weekend, the Niwot Business Association hopes to break the $90,000 mark with an ultimate goal of $100,000.
It seemed that the whole community was excited to come out and support those affected. But it was also simply a great opportunity for the community to come together.
"My favorite part is just the atmosphere of Niwot, and the people," said Milterson. "Everyone's genuinely easy going, loves to have a good time, and when you get them all together to play bingo, it's fun."
