All Local, All The Time
Niwot’s Left Hand Grange No. 9 was founded in 1873 and is now the oldest active Grange in Colorado. In 1945, Left Hand Grange, Inc., a non-profit corporation, purchased the present building at 195 Second Avenue, formerly Nelson Hall, for $750, and it has served as the home of Left Hand Grange No. 9 ever since.
While initially providing an outlet for farmers and country folks to interact socially, to share ideas and resources, and to stay in touch with local politics, these days Left Hand Grange No. 9 serves as a community center for everyone. It offers a space for public and private events, meetings, par-ties, classes, concerts, and more. This new column, “Home on the Grange,” will be covering the happenings at the Left Hand Grange for the local community.
Annual Elections
September's annual meeting of Left Hand Grange No. 9, held at the Grange building, resulted in the election of the following officers: President - Jim Dorvee, Vice President - Kellie Beran, Treasurer - Dayna Roane, and Secretary - Bruce Johnson.
Beran, the outgoing president and Robert Roane, the outgoing vice-president, served in those roles for the past four years, with Beran serving mul-tiple terms as president prior to that.
Roane, along with Dorvee and Ron Grunzweig, comprise the newly elected Executive Committee, the group responsible for maintaining the build-ing. Leaving the Executive Committee after many years of service are Kathy Koehler and Kellie Beran.
