All Local, All The Time
The Niwot Business Association is sponsoring the Pumpkin Walk for the second year in a row. Niwot realtor and NBA Vice-President Deb Fowler, who is spearheading the event said, “As we approach the colder months, it is even more critical to ensure we support the local restaurants and stores so they continue to stay in business.”
The concept is simple - you check in and pick up your pumpkin pass and empty swag bag, one per household, at DRF Real Estate - Slifer Smith and Frampton. located in Suite E behind (not next to) The Old Oak Coffeehouse in downtown Niwot. The swag bag contains the Passport and vouchers for discounted drinks and food donated by local restaurants, good through the month of October.
Then, throughout the month of October, shoppers go into each store that is a “Pumpkin Stop,” both on 2nd Avenue and Cottonwood Square, show your pumpkin pass, get it stamped and receive a free complimentary fall-themed gift from each participating store.
Shoppers who make any purchases are reminded to keep the receipt, because if you return the completed pumpkin pass with at least four receipts, you qualify to enter the drawing for some Grand prizes.
Restaurants are also participating with vouchers provided at pick up in the swag bag for discounted food and drink items around town during the month of October.
Completed passes and receipts must be returned to DRF Real estate by November 11, 2022.
The drawing for prizes will take place after that, with 1st Prize - a 1914 House $100 gift certificate, 2nd Prize - a $75 Farow gift card, and 3rd Prize - a $50 Niwot Tavern gift card.
The event is designed to encourage people to start their holiday shopping early and discover new businesses they haven’t visited before. The event is sponsored by the LID and NBA, with the drawing prizes sponsored by DRF Real Estate.
Fowler said, “A thriving downtown benefits us all, by making Niwot continue to be a magical place to live and keeping the downtown businesses alive. In return we maintain our home values and protect our hard earned money. We all deserve that, but we all need to do our bit. I have to admit I love the convenience and prices of Amazon but I have now challenged myself before I place any order online: ‘Can I buy it in NIwot?’ It’s simple, if I can, I do. I don’t mind if it costs a couple of extra dollars. Knowing I have supported a local business feels good.”
Fowler and other Niwot business owners continue to have regular meetings to brainstorm and launch new events to keep Niwot vibrant and all businesses thriving, and, as she states, “to have some fun at the same time.”
Passport pickup starts at 10 a.m. on Oct. 1 from the DRF office. Come early as the passports are limited and go quickly.
