Niwot's Annual Holiday Parade set for Saturday

It's beginning to feel a lot like it's time for Niwot's annual Holiday Parade. In fact, the parade is scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 26 at 11 a.m. The parade will proceed down 2nd Avenue starting at Murray Street and ending in the Left Hand Corner parking lot at Niwot Road.

The event is sponsored by the Niwot Business Association (NBA). Linda Klueber, the NBA coordinator for this event, said, "Not only [are] Niwot's Holiday Magic Events intended to recognize the holidays, they are an opportunity for the community to come together to fully embrace each other and celebrate the holiday season together."

Klueber explained that the parade lineup this year will have around 50 entries, depending on the weather. "We start with the Boulder County Sheriff's Color Guard followed by Niwot's own Niwot Community Semi-Marching Free Grange Band," Klueber said. Among the entries are scouting groups, 4-H clubs with their livestock, Boulder County Fair Royalty on their horses, school clubs and dancers. Entries from the Niwot Chiefs car club will also participate in the parade.

As always, Santa will be the grand marshal of the parade and then will be in the Left Hand Grange on the corner of 2nd Avenue and Franklin Street until 1 p.m. to talk to children.

There will be live music, food and gift vendors along 2nd Avenue and in Cottonwood Square during the day. Carolers will perform throughout town and a horse drawn carriage will transport people between the 2nd Avenue and Cottonwood Square shopping areas.
