All Local, All The Time
Deciding on a college major was easy for me. Sports have always been at the center of my life and with my baseball career coming to a close after graduating from Silver Creek High School, I knew that I needed to continue being around athletics, just in a slightly different capacity. Writing was - and still is, of course - another passion of mine, which made pursuing a sports journalism career an obvious next step.
In the spring of 2022, I emerged from the University of Colorado Boulder with a journalism degree and minors in both sports media and business. But the experiences I had outside of the classroom remain most valuable to me. I began writing for the university's student newspaper, the CU Independent, about one month into my freshman year. The thrill of covering sports proved more exciting than I envisioned as I learned the craft and worked as many Buffs games as I could. I was named the sports editor of the Independent following my freshman year and that summer, I worked as a media coordinator for the Boulder Collegians Baseball Club. That experience led me to former Left Hand Valley Courier editor Jocelyn Rowley, who was writing a story on the team. Jocelyn soon took me on board the Courier where I've been covering mostly Niwot High School athletics ever since.
Along with writing for the Courier, I am the managing editor of the Colorado Buffaloes Wire (part of the USA Today Sports Media Group) and I'm also a freelance prep sports writer for the Boulder Daily Camera.
Covering this community has been a privilege and I look forward to telling more of your stories.
