All Local, All The Time
lnkberry Books in Niwot is hosting author RJ Stewart on Saturday, Jan. 21 at 4:00 p.m. to hear him read from his new novel, "Errors of Night," a story about Former General Julian von Wille, who makes a pilgrimage to Italy in search of atonement for his theft of a valuable poem his soldiers took from the wounded body of a Marchesa. He seeks to speak with her, to explain himself, and to ask her forgiveness, but because of a stroke she is unable to speak. She has her own regrets for leading the orphans in her care into harm's way. They find a very surprising way to settle old scores.
"How often does a reader have the opportunity to look into another's soul?" John Winsor, author of "The Punishments and Maggie's Revenge," reflected after reading Stewart's novel. "The conflicts in this story--war vs. peace, conflicting memories, trauma, redemption, chastity vs. love, honor vs. duty--combine to create insight into the mystery of being human. Stewart's language is poetic, and his metaphors are remarkably creative, weaving a rich tapestry of prose," Winsor said.
RJ (Ron) Stewart writes fiction and fiddles with poetry. He is a retired newspaper editor and publisher who lives in Lafayette, Colorado, with his partner, Becky Roser. He has self-published two novels, "Then Comes a Wind" (2015) and "Errors of Night" (2022).
The reading will be followed by a reception for the author.
