Four candidates apply for LID Advisory Committee

Four candidates have applied for appointment to the Niwot Local Improvement District Advisory Committee, with four openings to be filled. The Boulder County Commissioners will make appointments to the LID in February.

Current LID Treasurer Bruce Rabeler, who serves as one of four rate-paying business members of the LID Advisory Committee, did not seek another term. Rabeler is a co-owner of Little Bird in downtown Niwot.

Sarah Cioni, owner of Belle Terre Floral, a floral design shop in Cottonwood Square, which recently expanded to a presence in Niwot Market as well, has applied for Rabeler's position on the LID Advisory Committee. As a sales-tax collecting business owner, Cioni fits the requirements for the position.

She has been involved with Niwot's Enchanted Evening celebration on the Friday after Thanksgiving for many years, most recently arranging for "Elsa" to perform songs from the movie "Frozen" at the event. Cioni's first business in Niwot was known as The Painted Primrose, and after relocating to California for several years, she returned to Niwot and opened her current shop. Cioni is also involved in a retail sales sub-committee of the Niwot Business Association.

The other three applicants are incumbents whose terms are expiring. All three are eligible for reappointment.

Scott Firle, who serves as a Niwot resident on the 9-member committee, has reapplied for his position. Firle is also the current chair of the LID Advisory Committee. Firle serves as the Director of Member Relations for the Boulder Chamber of Commerce.

Jeff Knight is the Niwot Community Association (NCA) representative on the LID Advisory Committee. Knight filled an unexpired term, and has reapplied for the position. He is a member of the board of directors of the NCA, serving as the Area 1 representative, which includes his home in Burgundy Park. He works as Account Director for n2Grate Government Technology Solutions.

Niwot Business Association president Eric Bergeson's term on the LID Advisory Committee also expires. Bergeson is the designated NBA representative on the committee, and also serves as Vice-Chair of the LID. Bergeson has reapplied for his position. He owns the Niwot Wheel Works bike repair shop and the Wheel House, a gathering place serving beverages and food from the La Musette food truck parked onsite. Prior to opening Niwot Wheel Works, Bergeson was Senior Director of Quality at Amgen.

In other LID news, the November 2022 revenue report showed that revenue for that month was down almost 13% over the revenue for November 2021. The year-to-date revenue, however, remains high at almost 9% above the same period in 2021.
