Vision Zero safety program hosted by county

The Boulder County Commissioners will host a meeting about the “Vision Zero” program and safety policy on March 8 at 9 a.m. The Vision Zero goal is to eliminate serious injuries and fatal traffic crashes in unincorporated Boulder County by 2035.

Public meetings were held in 2021 to obtain input from the community. The virtual meeting on March 8 will be for program managers to update the commissioners on crash analysis, safety projects and other initiatives. The meeting is open to the pubic, but it will not be open to public comment.

To sign up to listen during this live event, go to the commissioners’ advanced agenda for the date of March 8 at:

Traffic safety has been of concern in Niwot, especially with the recent accidents at the intersection of Niwot Road and the Diagonal Highway (SH-119). The Vision Zero program is performing traffic crash analysis in unincorporated Boulder County and the four incorporated mountain towns (Lyons, Jamestown, Nederland and Ward).

More information about the program and a link to submit suggestions for any improvements to county roads can be found at https://bouldercounty.gov/transportation/multimodal/vision-zero/
