All Clear at Niwot Market

On Monday, May 8, Mountain View Fire Rescue firefighters responded to a report of smoke inside the Niwot Market. According to the Mountain View Fire Rescue Twitter post, firefighters found a refrigerant leak from a cracked manifold which had leaked five gallons. Firefighters responded with a hazmat vehicle and spent several hours cleaning up the spill and clearing the building.

Alison Steele of Niwot Market said, "My brother and I were here and we knew exactly what happened and got everyone out of the store. The freon was in the basement of the store - the line burst by the compressor. Freon evaporates into the air so unless you are in the basement you were fine."
