All Local, All The Time
The Niwot Business Association is bringing back Around the World Day on Saturday, May 20, starting at 10 a.m. and lasting throughout the day until 4 p.m.
The event was brought to life during the pandemic as a way to get people out and about in Niwot late in May when temperatures warm up. The popularity of the event with businesses and shoppers alike led to it becoming a much-anticipated annual event.
This year will be the third annual Around the World Day, where local businesses throughout Niwot adopt a country of their choice and celebrate it through food, music, arts or special attractions - any way that brings the flavor and feel of that country to life. Some of the countries to be celebrated this year are Mexico, England, Cambodia, Denmark, Algeria and Greece.
Attractions such as flamenco dancers at The Wheelhouse, Polynesian dancers at Blessings Day Spa, Irish music and dancers, African drummers and even a demonstration by the Fjellborg Vikings thanks to A Few Of A Kind Vintage can be found around town from 2nd Avenue throughout Cottonwood Square.
Local musician and owner of the Niwot Gig, Martin Marks, will be performing outside of Cimmini's Restaurant, and you'll find a fun photo booth at DRF Real Estate. The Niwot Community Semi-Marching Free Grange Band will perform in Cottonwood Square at 11 a.m. with music from around the world, ranging from Africa, to The Girl From Ipanema, to Bohemian Rhapsody, to the Ukrainian National Anthem.
In addition to entertainment and food, shoppers will also enjoy pop-up vendors. Make sure to wear your walking shoes and have some good international fun!
