All Local, All The Time
Niwot Business Association President Eric Bergeson introduced Angela Hudgins as the new Niwot Administrative Coordinator at the May 9 NBA meeting.
"Angela is an architect, and has a lot of experience in marketing, and has her own business," Bergeson said.
Hudgins, who lives on Oxford Road east of 95th Street, has many ties to the Niwot community, with three children in the Niwot High School feeder system. She formed her own business, Boulder Mama, a craft, clothing and "sweet treats" business which sells products at The Little Shop Niwot in Cottonwood Square.
The administrative position was created by the NBA, with funding by the Niwot Local Improvement District, as the organization transitioned from an Economic Development Director to focus on administrative assistance with the many events and programs of the NBA and other community organizations. The NBA is also redirecting EDD funds to other areas of emphasis, including marketing and social media presence.
Catherine McHale, who served as EDD for the past five years, ended her term as of March 31, after seeing business district vacancies all but disappear. At the LID meeting May 2, Bergeson explained the need for more administrative assistance for the many volunteers who coordinate events, now that commercial vacancies have largely disappeared.
The LID approved funding the position at up to $14,400 for the last eight months of the year. Hudgins is expected to spend 40 hours per month as the Administrative Coordinator, at a contract rate of $45 per hour. The NBA made a point of noting that other non-profit Niwot community organizations would also have access to Hudgins' services in coordinating events.
The LID application submitted by the NBA stated, "The Niwot Business Association and related organizations have stepped up the quantity and extent of activities and projects to improve and promote the Niwot business district. The resulting workload is straining the all-volunteer organizations that plan, coordinate and execute these various activities. This position will alleviate the burden of executing various administrative and coordination activities, freeing up volunteer leadership in the business district to focus more on strategy, planning and oversight."
The NBA board of directors will supervise Hudgins' activities.
