All Local, All The Time
"You know you did something right when your kids throw you a retirement party and all you have to do is show up," said Julie Breyer, recently retired Niwot Elementary School third grade teacher.
On June 17, a joint retirement party was held at The Wheel House on 2nd Avenue in Niwot for Breyer and her husband, Bob Breyer, who also retired this year. Bob is an aerospace software engineer who worked for many companies over the years and takes significant pride in working on the Hubble Space Telescope in the 1980s. Julie spent the last 25 years teaching third grade at Niwot Elementary, but before that worked in restaurant management and corporate construction.
Their daughter Dana Saltzman said, "Both (my parents) worked very hard in their lives and I thought they deserved to have an evening with their friends to honor their careers and their transition into the next phase of their lives." Saltzman also expressed great gratitude toward her husband, Mark, her brother, Patrick, and family friend Diane Zimmerman for their help with the party.
Since both Bob and Julie began their professional careers in the 1980s, they felt it appropriate to have a "Totally 80s" themed party. Friends and family members were all encouraged to dress up in their best 80s attire, everyone played trivia games about popular movies and music of the decade, and enjoyed the most bodacious playlist of the greatest 80s hits.
"I am so grateful for the attendance of (everyone). It was unbelievably special to celebrate this new phase in my parents' lives with so many who have had varying relationships with them," added Saltzman, who also wanted to acknowledge the staff at The Wheel House and the services of the Magic Food Bus food truck that all helped make the evening special. "This was the perfect space for our party and we couldn't have asked for a more seamless experience. I cannot offer enough praise for their assistance in creating this special event with us."
Surely, everyone who has been impacted by this incredible couple in one way or another wishes nothing but the best for these two in their retirement.
