Donald Allen Farr

Donald Allen Farr was born in Detroit, Michigan. He passed away at the age of 79 in Commerce City, Colorado, due to Parkinson's.
He met his wife Julie Farr in California and the couple married in Lincoln, Nebraska, in 1970. They lived most of their married life in Niwot, Colorado. They had four children and many pets. They were married 36 years before Julie's passing of breast cancer in 2006.
When Don was a kid he loved playing with trains and that love inspired him to become an engineer later in his life. Don studied electronic engineering at the University of Detroit Mercy (class of 1962). He was a co-op student and design engineer at Texas Instruments (1964-1968). In the years 1968-1972 Don was a design engineer/manager for National Semiconductor in Santa Clarita, California. In 1972 he worked as a Design Manager for Signetics Corp in Sunnyvale, California. In 1980 he worked as a design engineer for Monolithic Memories in Santa Clarita, California.
In 1982 Don moved his family to Niwot, Colorado, to start work for Storage Technology Corporation in Louisville where he spent most of his engineering career (22 years). He then worked as a sourcing engineer and an ROHS Manager at Carrier Access before changing his career to drive a bus for the St. Vrain Valley School District.
When Don was not working, he enjoyed time with his family and friends; playing tennis, golfing, dancing, camping, singing, boating, coaching, skiing, traveling, attending concerts, attending sporting events, attending plays and enjoying many meals together. Don had a love for comedy and music. He enjoyed sports and was a loyal fan to his Detroit and Colorado teams. Don always encouraged his kids and grandkids through their many endeavors.
He is preceded in death by his wife Julie Farr, and his parents, Edwin and Doris Farr.
He is survived by his sister Anne Farr of Detroit, his brother Doug Farr and wife Gail of Chicago, his children Mike Farr of Niwot, Cammie Dribus and her husband John of Wake Forest, Amy Kish and her husband Ryan of Commerce City, and Laurie Callahan and her husband Colin of Denver. He is also survived by his grandchildren Hannah and Grace Dribus of Wake Forest, Ellie and Jules Callahan of Denver and many beloved family members not listed.
Thursday night, July 6th at 5pm, we invite you to join the family to celebrate Don Farr's love for music and dancing at Rock & Rails summer concert series. The event is outdoors at Whistle Stop Park in Niwot, Colorado. Please wear something that reflects Donald Farr or a memory you share with him. Saturday, July 8th at 11am, we invite you to attend a Memorial Service held at Crist Mortuary, 3395 Penrose Place, Boulder, CO 80301. A reception will immediately follow the service (food and drinks provided).
Sunday, a private burial ceremony will be held for the family.
