All Local, All The Time
First Friday Art Walk in Niwot saw a good crowd out and about. Open Studios, in the former Niwot Feed Store, along with Osmosis Gallery and Niwot Jewelry & Gifts had many visitors as the Niwot Cultural Arts Association's Why Not Niwot? Juried Art Show kicked off.
The entries in this year's art contest, featuring art connected to Niwot, are now on display at the many participating businesses. Patrons completing a passport showing visits to all of the businesses are eligible for a drawing of a print of the winning artwork.
Cash prizes are awarded to the top three entries, as well as a People's Choice winner based on voting by those who visit all the stores. "We already had three entries turned in tonight," said Anne Postle, who coordinates the event for the NCAA.
An awards ceremony is scheduled for Friday, Sept. 1, at 6 p.m. in front of Osmosis Gallery on 2nd Avenue, preceded by a concert by the Niwot Community Semi-Marching Free Grange Band. The contest is funded in part by the Niwot Local Improvement District.
