All Local, All The Time
A steady stream of four-legged companions strode through Niwot on Saturday, July 15, with their human friends as part of the Pampered Pooch Walk sponsored by the Niwot Business Association. The Pampered Pooch Walk was a four-hour event starting at 10 a.m., encouraging all dog owners to walk around Niwot and visit local businesses for fun doggy opportunities, treats, and canine-related goodies.
Most of the local businesses in Niwot participated in the Walk. Some, such as A Few of a Kind Vintage and Mercantile, and the Wandering Jellyfish Bookshop, had lots of dog-related items, such as leashes, books, and Barkuterie boxes available, some on sale. Others, such as Chico's Grooming Spa and Blessings Day Spa, handed out various dog-related goodie bags. The majority of local businesses in Niwot had lots of dog treats on hand for visitors.
Auliya Hartner, a local resident who volunteers at Soul Dog Rescue, an organization dedicated to helping abandoned or neglected dogs in the Four Corners area, set up a booth along 2nd Avenue featuring dogs who still need homes.
"This is a pup-friendly town for sure. The Garden Gate Cafe has a specific dog menu so you can sit outside on the patio [with] your dogs," Angie Miltersen, the owner of Few of a Kind Vintage and Mercantile, observed during the Pampered Pooch Walk. She said, "A lot of the coffee shops will do little puppuccinos. You can have your dog adjusted at the Adjustatorium. He's a chiropractor here in town, and he works on animals as well as humans."
